Media Assistant | Somerville Media Center

Sept. 2024- Present

The Somerville Media Center is a public access center that supports and creates community-driven media through low-cost education, access to production resources, and distribution on cable television and the web.

As a Media Assistant, I greet visitors and handle queries via phone, email, and general correspondence, manage student enrollment in enrichment programs, provide technical support to community tech users, including assistance on technology programs and AV equipment, monitor facilities and equipment condition and manage equipment and resource scheduling, and work on media management projects that improve the delivery of SMC’s services

Communications Dean’s Fellow | Simmons University Communications Department

CommWorks is an annual event hosted by the Simmons University Communication Department that celebrates the release of the student magazine and showcases student work in an exhibition style. I worked with a team of two other people to plan, organize, curate, and design materials for the show.

Digital Media Design Intern | Geaux Network

Jan. 2024- May 2024

Geaux Network is a streaming service that showcases culturally relevant content for a multicultural audience. As a design intern at Geaux, I took on various design projects including the redesign and prototyping of their mobile app and desktop player for their streaming website, Geaux TV, as well as various smaller design tasks. I collaborated with lead graphic designer to ensure congruence with brand guidelines & existing design work.

Creative Team | Studio 5

Sept. 2023- Dec. 2023

Studio 5 is a renowned faculty-facilitated, professional communications studio: students doing real work for real clients. It is a capstone course in Simmons University's Communications Department and gives soon-to-graduate students the advantage of hands-on experience before they begin their professional careers.

As a member of the creative team, I redesigned Nia’s Impact Reports, Branding and Visual Guidelines document, PowerPoint Templates, Instagram Social Media Templates. We also created an Instagram Best Practices Guide informed by research into how competitors in the financial sector leverage the Instagram platform to engage target audiences, broaden reach, translate financial content to Instagram format, and create brand awareness.

Project Manager | Studio 5

Sept. 2023- Dec. 2023

Studio 5 (student-run communications agency) worked with the Center for Young Women's Health at Boston Children's Hospital (CYWH) to enhance its social media engagement by creating a content strategy plan.

As a project manager, I identified tasks and assigned tasks to team members that ensured timely delivery of materials to the client (CYWH) and adequate turnaround times when feedback was required. I oversaw the creation of a digital content audit, ensuring strategic alignment with organizational goals and target audience needs, and served as a liaison between the creative team and the account team.

CommLab Instructional Assistant | Simmons University

Sept. 2023 – May 2024

As a CommLab Agent, I assisted communications students with questions on multimedia projects, media-related coursework, and Adobe Suite software, and train students on using equipment such as professional imaging printers and a dry mount press for mounting work. I also managed reservations for equipment and specialized on-campus technology studios (Alden Trust TV Studio, Radio Broadcast Studios, Podcast Suites, Video Editing Rooms). Finally, I completed graphic design projects for instructional and educational use, including software how-to-guides, and signage.

Social Media Manager | Sunrise Movement: Simmons University Hub

September 2021 – May 2024

Sunrise Simmons is a hub of the national Sunrise Movement, a youth-led environmental justice organization committed to advocating against climate change and racial injustice.

As social media manager for Sunrise Simmons, I developed, implemented, and maintained all strategic social media communications, public relations, outreach, and event activities and materials for the organization. I designed and updated all social media pages and developed a plan to consistently increase visibility of organization and organize events that increase community involvement. Finally, I collaborated with organization leaders on ongoing initiatives, most fervently, fossil fuel divestment. I worked closely with my peers to develop a fossil fuel divestment campaign, meet with administration, and organize events and direct action.

Events Coordinator | Organizacion Latinoamericana (OLA)

Sept. 2022 – May 2024

OLA is an affinity organization at Simmons University committed to establishing safe-haven and community for Latine students at a predominantly white institution. As Events Coordinator for OLA, I oversaw, designed, organized, and executed various OLA events throughout the year, established relationships across campus to co-sponsor events and initiatives, and facilitated and organized monthly Latine support group meetings for Latine-identifying students at Simmons.
